Ole Anders Tandberg’s production of Die Zauberflöte is an imaginative, action-packed production that resonates with the greatest hits of opera. Everyone sings in Swedish!

Gioacchino Rossinis opera Askungen är en riktig bel canto-pärla med mycket vacker musik. Handlingen är baserad på den välkända sagan om ont och gott. Här får berättelsen en absurd och komisk twist när regissör Erik Söderblom skapar en lekfullt surrealistisk värld som har klara beröringspunkter med vår samtid. På ett humoristiskt sätt speglas dagens besatthet av utseende, där personer i modevärlden och sociala medier presenterar förvrängda skönhetsideal. Askungen lever med sin brutale far och två elaka styvsystrar som utnyttjar henne som piga. För att överleva ägnar sig Askungens åt dagdrömmar om ett bättre liv. Och drömmen blir faktiskt sann när en bortskämd och något förvirrad prins, på jakt efter någon att gifta sig med, sätter fart på intrigerna och skakar om familjen ordentligt. En speciell sko är inblandad i leken och innan berättelsen är slut kan den som var längst ner på den sociala stegen plötsligt befinna sig på toppen.

Magical arias and duets with Ida Falk Winland and Tobias Westman. Twelfth Night is a time for splendour and celebration – and what could be more festive than the fiery passion of Italian opera? The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to a concert filled with some of the most beloved arias and duets in the Italian operatic repertoire. The conductor is Tobias Ringborg, one of Sweden’s foremost opera specialists and a natural choice for this operatic feast. He has appeared regularly with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic for many years and is deeply rooted in the Italian opera tradition. Joining him are two of Sweden’s brightest opera stars. Soprano Ida Falk Winland enjoys an international career and was recently acclaimed for her portrayal of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly at the Gothenburg Opera. Tenor Tobias Westman, at the beginning of a brilliant career, has already made a strong impression on opera stages in Sweden and across Europe, with a broad and impressive repertoire. This year’s Twelfth Night Concert opens the treasure chest of Italian opera. Playful Rossini? Dramatic Verdi? Tender Puccini? The exact programme will be revealed later – but one thing is certain: hearts will beat faster as we revel in the magic of opera. Principal Guest Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's powerful and iconic Requiem, which the composer couldn’t finish before his own death. But first, John Adams' repetitive and pulsating Shaker Loops from 1982, followed by Scottish composer James MacMillan’s Composed in August. Additional performance of Mozart’s Requiem on February 7 at 7 PM due to high audience demand.
